About Me

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Dip.Couns, mBACP). After studying Humanistic Counselling in Winchester and gaining a Diploma in Counselling at The University of Chichester, I worked as a volunteer at Petersfield Counselling Service before starting private practice in Winchester and Alresford in Hampshire.
I have a long interest in personal transformation and believe we all can grow and reach our full potential. My aim is to aid and support your own development and actualisation.
It is good to talk. It is even better to be truly heard. This listening is fundamental to what I offer.
About Person Centred Counselling
Person Centred Therapy is a client-led humanistic approach where you as the client, rather than the therapist, are understood to be best placed to know how you are feeling and what you are experiencing. As such, counselling is not about giving advice, nor is judgement passed. Instead, a safe, attentive, warm, genuine, respectful and empathetic environment is provided, with our therapeutic alliance allowing for increased awareness, realisations, insight and positive change. I will support you in reaching your own understanding, making decisions and moving towards true happiness.
I may in addition offer various techniques to help with relaxation, grounding, centring and general wellbeing. These are related to yoga, breathwork and mindfulness.
Some principles of humanistic counselling:
People have inherent worth, deserve respect and their experience is valued
People have an innate tendency towards growth, change and realising their potential
People are naturally creative and unique
All aspects of the human psyche have the potential to be a resource
The environment I create facilitates hope, possibility, autonomy, resilience and personal/professional transformation
I seek an authentic way of being that facilitates relational depth in the here and now
About Our Sessions

After an optional free telephone or online consultation, counselling sessions are of 50 minutes duration. We will agree a weekly appointment time that works for us both. Counselling works best with consistency and regularity. According to your needs, this may be long or short-term.
